Set at a guest ranch in the Northern California mountains, TO DANCE WITH HORSES is a novel that explores how human relationships tie-in to the animal world.

"Kimberly Winslow is a self-made and successful advertising entrepreneur who changes her life midstream and buys a guest ranch," says first-time author and horse woman Fairfax Arnold. "Suddenly, Kim is confronted with her own shortfalls."

Kim's teenage niece, Emily, has a harrowing experience that deeply affects her ability to find happiness. The ranch becomes a place of healing. The ranch cook, Rosie, offers pearls of wisdom, and the wrangler, Sam, weaves horse sense through the lives of those around him. When Emily and Kim learn to dance with horses, their human relationships are deepened,.

Born in Texas, Fairfax Arnold is a graduate of Goddard College and an honors graduate and distinguished student of Texas A&M University where she received her Masters degree in the Equine Sciences program.

Arnold has worked with horses in the fields of horseshoeing, carriage driving, wrangling, endurance riding, hunting, cutting, reining, jumping, roping and trail riding in New York, France, Texas, Vermont, California and North Carolina. " Horses are my passion, and their beauty and powerful qualities inspired me to write this book," she says.

Fairfax currently raises Quarter horses in Garrard County, Kentucky.

HORSEDREAMS

My Life in Dreams
1969-2006
By
Fairfax F. Arnold

Introduction

I began recording my dreams because of a suggestion from my mother. During my 14th year, I began having very vivid dreams which awakened me in the middle of the night. When I told my mother she made a suggestion that she would frequently repeat during the course of her life: “Write it down.” So, of course I did. Putting thoughts and ideas (and dreams) on paper became a theme in my life. Journals, letters, poems, prose and eventually my first novel, can all be attributed to being raised by a novelist who cherished the written word and the thoughts behind them.

Choosing to publish my horse dreams came about when someone suggested I write down what it was like being raised by a strong, independent, and brilliant woman. Dreams are a reflection of my unconscious mind. They point to both my strengths and weaknesses without being filtered through my conscious mind. As such, they are themselves more pure in their representation of myself that I could ever hope to achieve through my own directed writing, therefore I have chosen to present my dreams without editing. Editing is by definition a conscious effort and if dreams are true unconscious then any reworking of their content and word would overlay a conscious intent.

I chose my dreams if horses because I believe the horse represents the vital essence. Horses have been a constant in my life. Many of my dreams are of specific horses that I have owned, while other dreams contain horses I have never met. One hundred horse dreams. Believe in you dreams, sweet dreams.

Hand-made booklet of 100 horse dreams ~ $10.00.

  Paypal accepted.
